Carnaval Parade
Carnival in Brazil is a popular festival traditionally celebrated on Carnival Tuesday, when it is a national holiday. However, the celebrations officially begin three days before Ash Wednesday. It is also common for the revelry to begin before that date, at pre-carnival events such as samba school rehearsals, and the street carnival in much of the Northeast.
Quadrilla Dance
The quadrilha is a folk dance that takes place during the June Festivities, which are common in June and July. It is danced in pairs and its main elements are the music, steps and clothing of the countryside.
With European origins, the quadrilha as it is known today has received influences from the Northeast, indigenous and African rhythms over time. Other names given to the event are: quadrilha junina and quadrilha caipira.
Brazilian Traditional Food
Brazilian cuisine is the result of a mixture of European, indigenous and African ingredients. Many of the components of the recipes and preparation techniques are of indigenous origin, having been modified by the Portuguese and slaves from Africa.
